Scientific and R&D bodies joined forces

The Institut Français de la Vigne et du Vin (IFV), the national research institute for agriculture, food and the environment (INRAE), the Agro Institute / Montpellier SupAgro, the Advanced Studies of Vine and Wine Institute (IHEV), University of Montpellier, SUDVINBIO, the Occitanie Regional Chamber of Agriculture competitive cluster gather together for SITEVI on a joint "Research and Innovation" stand.

The IFV promotes the technical agility of the wine industry by supporting regional co-innovation initiatives and leveraging various knowledge-sharing channels (training, dissemination, etc.) to enhance the economic competitiveness and sustainability of the wine sector.

It provides solutions and technical references to the French wine industry to help address its challenges, including agroecology and adaptation to climate change through a broad range of scientific disciplines. The IFV thus contributes through its research and development activities to support the transformation of the sector in order to build the future of viticulture. Since 2023, the IFV has been awarded a qualified CSR label.

These scientific and R&D organisations which work together on innovative projects for the sector's firms, both in winegrowing and winemaking, mobilise specifically for this edition of SITEVI to present the major challenges that winegrowing is likely to be facing tomorrow.

Innovation through demonstration and tasting

On the stand, will be presented all the latest progress made in research, training, innovation and transfer in the vine and wine sector around five main topics:

  • Agroecology and adaptation to climate change,
  • Resistant plant material and grape varieties,
  • Organic vitiviniculture
  • Digital and robotics
  • Innovation in microbiology / wine yeasts

Tasting sessions of new disease-resistant grape varieties and foreign varieties adapted to water stress will also be held in the stand's tasting area.

Another original highlight of the stand: a "demo" zone, where will be displayed the latest innovations of the sector.
